The Dax Pack is a fantastic new VCE Resource Package for teachers and students of Psychology and Health and Human Development. It provides ideas and activities to assist teachers to create a safe and supportive classroom environment for teaching about mental health. The Pack addresses frequently held myths and misconceptions associated with mental-illness through engaging, classroom based activities. Ethical issues, such as informed consent and confidentiality are also explored in relation to both the artwork and the new psychology curriculum.
This package is an invaluable part of the Dax Centre's program for young people as it continues to demystify the issues surrounding mental illness for this age group. Students will learn about mental health through learning outcomes, student learning activities, Victorian Curriculum Assessment Authority (VCAA) recommended assessment tasks based on the life stories of artists who have experienced a mental illness and expressed their experiences through their artwork.
