The Dax Centre has a long history of providing educational resources for VCE psychology. We currently have two different programs suited to the Psychology Curriculum
Mindfields
An engaging and innovative program that explores mental health/ illness from a personal viewpoint, a neuropsychological and clinical perspective and through the artwork displayed in the Dax Centre gallery
Due to popular demand, we have now differentiated the program to cater for the year 11 and year 12 psychology curriculums
The year 11 program includes:
• Presentation by a mental health clinician
• Presentation of the lived experience of mental illness and recovery, considering nurture and nature factors, by an advocate from the mental illness fellowship
• Guided tour of the gallery. A clinician will explore artworks with an emphasis on how mental health may influence individual experiences and expression
The year 12 program includes:
• Presentation by a neuroscientist including advantages and limitations of the use of non-human animals in research in terms of generalizations and conclusions, research methods and ethical principles associated with the study of mental health and summary of ground breaking research in either schizophrenia or depression.
• Presentation of the lived experience of mental illness and recovery, using the biopsychosocial framework to do so, by an advocate from mental illness fellowship.
