Health and Human Development
Dax Education enriches students understanding of mental health in VCE health and Human Development, Unit 1, Area of Study 3, Health Issues for Australian Youth.
Our program examines mental health and youth in relation to lifespan issues and related biological, social, emotional, physical and intellectual factors
Students are encouraged to deepen their knowledge by exploring the artworks in the gallery, speaking with health professionals and hearing the experience of a mental health advocate.
Mindfields
An engaging innovative program that explores mental health/illness from a personal and clinical perspective, and through the artwork in the Dax Gallery.
The program includes
- Talk by a mental health clinician using a case study to explore mental health and adolescence.
- An advocate from the Mental Illness Fellowship will discuss their personal experience with illness and recovery
- Guided tour of the gallery led by a mental health clinician. Understand how lifespan issues, specifically adolescence, influence individual experience and expression.
Duration: 2.5 hours
Cost: For a limited time only $12.50

Making Sense
VCE, Year 9 and 10, Health and Human Development
Students will be introduced to the Dax Gallery and current exhibition featuring artworks created by artists with an experience of mental illness or trauma. A guided tour of the gallery will be led by a mental health clinician, and will assist students to build on their knowledge and understanding of mental health. Can be tailored to make VCE curriculum links.
Duration: 1 hour
