Child and Mother

Patricia Stewart and Del Kathryn Barton met by chance and found an instant and immediate connection. In child and mother the two share a space as creatives, as women with lived experience of mental health issues, as mothers and daughters.

From Patricia’s extensive personal collection and works from the Cunningham Dax Collection, Barton has curated an exhibition celebrating Patricia’s unique aesthetic grown from her mental health journey.Including new works by Del Kathryn Barton made in response to Patricia Stewart’s extraordinary oeuvre spanning over 25years, child and mother is a rich visual exploration of relationships and connection.

We are delighted to bring you two immersive virtual experiences of the child and mother exhibition.

Child and Mother school holiday program

Drawing for Mindfulness

Zoom online holiday classes for children and teens – join us from anywhere across Australia!

Spend an afternoon or two with artist and educator Jane Karnowski exploring drawing as an intuitive and playful expression of creativity.

Carefully selected artworks from the current exhibition at The Dax Centre, Child and Mother, will act as drawing prompts for students to examine the power of imagination and the generative force of drawing for wellbeing.

We will work creatively, share and talk together online followed by offline time for independent making. It’s ‘social’ at a distance among like-minded students.

Suitable for children aged 7 years and over.
